One of the highlights on Spain’s calendar of summer festivals is the La Tomatina tomato fight in Buñol near Valencia. South Africa too has its fair share of festivals.
September month is not only the start of Spring, but also one of South Africas busiest months of festivals – with some 12 events being hosted around the country.
These festivals range from the Hermanus Whale Festival where the locals and thousands of visitors gather and to where the southern right whales travel thousands of miles to the Cape south coast to mate and calve in the bays each year; to the Macufe – a 10 day Mangaung African Cultural Festival which attracts over 140 000 people from South Africa, Africa and the world.
